Composer: Johann Pachelbel

Johann Pachelbel (1653 – 1706)

Pachelbel was known as an organ/keyboard composer, and was an important composer of church and chamber music.  The story has it that this piece was composed for Johann Christoph Bach’s  (JS Bach’s brother’s) wedding.  A favorite for weddings  since rediscovery in the 70’s,  this version contains a nicely arpeggiated cello part, with the obligatory 8 note obligato in the bass.
